10 birthday cards

I turned 17 a week ago. Thank you to everyone who sent me a card. They're all beautiful and I didn't mind at all if some of them were a bit late! They are all very beautiful and yes, I am seventeen now... what else is there to say?

a sudden death

They died a cruel, painful death. But I'm sure it's not nearly as painful and traumatic as be gobbled up, crunched between teeth of a larger cannibalistic fish. The icky ick ( a fish infection) has hit again claiming two helpless victims with it's white slimy fate. I will miss my friends dearly. Sorry if I caused you any scares, yes it's only two fish, but two very special fish. I won't ever love any other fish again like

I loved them. Goodbye Rikki and Claire!

India

I watched a sad movie today. It reminded me of a dream/idea I had a few years ago, to be a missionary in India. I first thought about it when I read the Biography of Amy Carmichael when I was 13. Her story is so inspiring. I wanted to be just like her! She rescued little children who were sold to the temples. She founded an orphanage. It is so sad what those kids have to live with. Even if the kids do have parents, they certainly don't get very good food or education. So sad! I wish I could rescue every single one of hem!

hello world

Well I haven't posted in a couple days. The weather has been beautiful lately, in the 50s. I went out driving with my dad again today, he turned off the engine while driving so I would get used to driving without power steering. Couldn't really tell much of a difference. Of course you have to push a little harder and push hard when you brake. but anyway I'm glad my mom & dad are teaching me to drive, and not putting it off. Wonder how soon I'll be able to drive on a big road!!!! OK Alyssa, don't get too impatient! lol

afternoon hike

I drove us up the mountain to the hiking trail. It was fun, as usual. But this is the first time I took my nikon D80 camera along. It is beautiful in the fall time, but it is always an amazing view no matter what time of year.

seventeen

Well yesterday I turned 17. I drove 50 mph. (I know it ain't that fast but it is for back roads, my mom kept telling me to please slow down). I got Taylor Swift CDs for presnts from my dad and sister. My mom got me a picture frame and a rug for my room. I just put all the mp3s on my Spi. It's pink and I drew on it with a black sharpie. I didn't have my pics taken cuz i didnt look so good, the cake was gluten free choclolate with coconut frosting. We were kidding that it looked like a toy dionsaur and stuff... it did taste really good. My mom made it she is so cool like that. Well I guess thats all i have to say for now.

art

Art is not my most accomplished area to say the least. But with a little help from people like my sister (helped me with the collage) and from my mom (helped me with the quilt and picking out colors) I do okay I guess.

Some material for my next quilt.

night driving

Yesterday evening I went driving with my dad in his car. We went on abunch of back roads. It started getting dark so I went driving for only the second time in my life at night! We ended up like 8 miles away from home. I didn't go above 35 mph yet. But I felt confident and sure of myself. A few times my dad grabbed the wheel cuz he thought I was getting too close to the egde of the road but I had it under control. The roads out here have lots of curves and there are lots of blind hills and corners. So you have to be very very careful!
